Thor: Ragnarok | Average Guy Movie Review

The God of Thunder returns in his third solo outing and this time he must save Asgard from Cate Blanchett's Hela, the Goddess of Death. But not before he escapes the clutches of The Grand Master (Jeff Goldblum), who forces Thor to participate in a gladiatorial match with his "friend from work". By adding his unique, nutty humour into the mix, director Taika Waititi takes Thor and the MCU in a new direction. Ragnarok is dark and serious and light and funny, all at the same time, and Waititi manages to strike a perfect balance between the two. Despite all of the changes - well tweaks - this still looks like a Thor movie, they haven't tried to distance Ragnarok from the previous entries. But whereas the first two did feel kind of separate from the galaxy we see in Guardians, this one bridges the gap by bringing Asgard into the wider universe. So it's only fitting that our hero faces a new kind of villain. First there's Hela. Having escaped the

Avengers: Infinity War | Theories

Avengers: Infinity War is said to be the most anticipated upcoming comicbook movie. As usual, Marvel Studios are playing things close to the vest. According to Elizabeth Olsen, the cast only received their individual pages of the script. In one of his scenes, Tom Holland didn't even know who he was fighting! Given all this it's really no surprise that Infinity War is the subject of rumour and mass speculation. Recently Screen Rant posted a list of "18 Insane Avengers: Infinity War Rumours That'll Blow You Away" (click here to read the full article), here are the ones I found most interesting... Quicksilver will be Resurrected At the end of Age of Ultron, Pietro Maximoff gave his life to save Hawkeye and a young boy. But we all know that death doesn't seem to mean much in the MCU. According to Screen Rant, Kevin Feige has promised that Infinity War will include every hero that has appeared in the MCU. But did he just mean the ones that are still l

Spider-Man: Homecoming | Average Guy Movie Review

The MCU's version of the webslinger has landed back in New York for his first solo outing. After the events of Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is keen to prove himself as an Avenger. But his mentor of sorts - Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) - wants the 15 year old to go back to school and learn what it means to be a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man first. Peter is definitely a kid with a lot on his plate, on top of the usual issues a modern day teenage nerd faces, he's still learning the extent of his abilities and trying to impress Stark. All while trying to bring down a gang selling salvaged alien technology, led by Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton). Without giving us another origin story, Marvel have re-introduced us to the world of Spider-Man. Director Jon Watts has avoided the format of previous movies where the hero acquires his powers, goes through a quick montage to learn what he can do and from then on is unstoppable. What I really like abo

Black Panther Teaser Trailer

The first teaser for Marvel Studios' Black Panther has landed and it certainly fuels curiosity. After an explosive entry into the MCU in Captain America: Civil War last year, things are looking good for T'Challa's first solo outing. Directed by Creed's Ryan Coogler, the movie follows the events of Civil War. T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home to Wakanda as king, but his reign is soon challenged by Michael B. Jordan's Erik Killmonger, a Wakandan exile. Also involved - somehow - is Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis), a smuggler interested in Wakanda's vast resources. In order to combat this threat, T'Challa will team up with CIA agent - and head of the Joint Counter Terrorism Center - Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) and the Dora Milaje, Wakandan special forces responsible for protecting the king. The trailer doesn't give very much away. Everything looks great, Coogler and his team seem to have combined the styles of sleek Marvel tec

Black Panther Poster

Today the first poster for Marvel Studios' Black Panther movie was released. The poster sees T'Challa - dressed in his Black Panther suit - sitting on the Wakandan throne. Disney released a statement regarding the movie's synopsis: Marvel Studios' "Black Panther" follows T'Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king - and Black Panther - is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the whole world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of the Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life. This little tease comes just hours before Marvel is due to release the first teaser tr

Marvel’s The Defenders | Official Trailer | Netflix - Moustache Reaction

We've seen the Avengers unite to save the world in the MCU, now it's time for Netflix to unite their four Marvel heroes so they can save New York from...Sigourney Weaver. Well her character, Alexandra Reid to be exact. The first season will become available on Netflix on 18th August 2017, but the first trailer has finally arrived and the show looks epic!  From the trailer we learn that Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) has got caught up in a major investigation that Misty Knight (Simone Missick) is running. Not only that, Jones' actions have resulted in the death of someone important to the investigation, someone she was trying to protect. It's at this point that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) shows up to act as Jones' lawyer. Meanwhile, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) is contemplating his future. Cage tells Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) he wants to help people, so she introduces him to Danny Rand (Finn Jones).  But ultimately, it looks like Murdock's old me

Thor: Ragnarok Teaser Trailer

Check out the trailer below... Finally, we've caught a glimpse of Taika Waititi's vision for the God of Thunder's third solo adventure. The teaser trailer hints at what Thor (and one of his work colleagues) was up to while the rest of the Avengers were falling out back on Earth.   It appears that Asgard falls victim to Hela (Cate Blanchett), who according to Blanchett "has been locked away for millenia getting more and more cross". After seeing Hela destroy Mjolnir, Thor finds himself in the hands of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) on the planet Sakaar. There he is forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena and one of his opponents is the Hulk. The big green rage monster is said to be more than just...well a big green rage monster like in previous movies. In fact Ruffalo describes him as having "swagger". There are hints at other new characters, including Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Skurge (Karl Urban).  Tom Hiddleston returns as Loki, w

Captain America: Civil War: Average Guy Movie Review

The Russo Brothers have kicked off Phase 3 of the MCU with Captain America: Civil War. In his third solo outing, the man out of time must watch his team and his friends get torn apart at a time when his new life collides with the old one. After a mission goes bad, the Avengers are faced with the Sokovia Accords, a document that'll put them under the control of the UN. This decision pits the team against each other, with half wanting to keep their independence and the other half wanting to keep the team together and on the right side of the law. The biggest rivalry somes in the form of Steve vs Tony. Steve fears the "agendas" and corruption of politicians and wants the Avengers to remain independent; "the safest hands are still our own". Whereas Tony is still dealing with the guilt of the Ultron incident and is possibly still carrying the effects of Scarlett Witch's fear inducing vision, and therefore believes the Avengers should be held acco
