John Wick: Chapter 4 | Average Guy Movie Review

Chad Stahelski leads us on another deliciously colourful foray into this gilded underworld of death, and I loved every minute of it! Both Keanu Reeves and John Wick are relentless - one in his ongoing fight to keep on living, and the other in his desire to see this loveable assassin lay waste to yet more of the High Table's minions. And that's the thing about John Wick; he is loveable. For a man of very few words, he's an engaging protagonist. One who is easy to root for, and has been since the very beginning. Chapter 4 is the longest John Wick  movie yet, and it is filled to the brim with extreme action, all of which is on an epic scale. How Stahelski and his incredible team keep coming up with new ways for John to shoot, hit, stab and drive his way through armies of killers, I don't know. But once again, they have delivered. Everything about this movie - from the characters (including some rather complicated relationships), to the sets and locations, the cars, and ev

The Matrix Resurrections | Moustache Trailer Reaction

It seems that resurrection is upon us, for this December we will be ushered down the rabbit hole once again. Check out the trailer for The Matrix Resurrections  below. When I first heard that Lana Wachowski was working on some sort of follow up to The Matrix  trilogy, I have to admit I was sceptical at best. The first movie was a cinematic milestone, it broke new ground, inspired a wave of new sci-fi and fantasy movies, and ushered Hollywood into the 21st century. On the other hand, the sequels weren't nearly as impressive. Sure there was hype, and a lot of impressive visuals, fights and stunts. But that hype soon gave way to "meh". So the idea of revisiting that world wasn't all that attractive. That is... until now. There is something very familiar about the imagery in this trailer, there are a lot of callbacks to events from the previous instalments, and yet we seem to be looking at a whole new Matrix. Everything is a lot brighter, gone is the grungy look, and for

Bill & Ted Face The Music | Average Guy Movie Review

It has been 25 years since we last saw Bill & Ted, and in that time things haven't gone exactly to plan. Wild Stallyns are back down to two members, and the boys are still trying to write the song that'll unite the world. Things aren't going great with "the Babes" (Jayma Mays and Erinn Hayes) either. So when Kelly (Kristen Schaal) - daughter of Rufus - shows up to inform them that they must write the the song by 7:17pm or all of time and space will cease to exist, they come up with an idea to steal the song from their future selves. In order to help out, their daughters Billie and Thea (A.K.A. Little Bill & Little Ted) take it upon themselves to assemble the most bodacious band. Returning to a franchise after so many years can be a risky prospect, especially one as beloved as Bill & Ted. Will the characters still be relatable? Will their story still be relevant? Or are their previous adventures something we remember fondly, but should be kept in the pa

Toy Story 4 | Average Guy Movie Review

The toys have been living with Bonnie for a while now, and Woody (Tom Hanks) is having to adapt to a life without leadership. But when Bonnie makes herself a new toy - Forky (Tony Hale) - Woody takes it upon himself to show the new guy what it means to be a toy. Forky however, has a different idea. The little spork sees himself as trash (rubbish in real English), and his attempts to throw himself away result in Woody and Forky getting lost during a family holiday. Now they've got to get back to Bonnie before she goes home, and they'll meet some interesting new toys along the way. You may be excused for thinking that Toy Story 3 was meant to be the end of the...well story. But one guy at least, had other ideas. In his directorial feature debut, Josh Cooley shows us that Woody, Buzz (Tim Allen) and the gang still have a story to tell. Something Pixar has always nailed - with Toy Story anyway - is keeping things fresh. Every adventure, instead of feeling like a rehash

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum | Average Guy Movie Review

After killing a member of the High Table on Continental grounds, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) once again finds himself on the run with a price on his head. But he's not the only one paying for his actions, an Adjudicator (Asia Kate Dillon) has been dispatched by the High Table to punish those who aided him. Will John be able to make things right before he drowns in the bloodbath he started over his car and his dog? If anyone can, it's Baba Yaga himself! With the action kicking off pretty much where Chapter 2 left things, we're seeing a different side to John Wick. Over the course of the last two movies we've seen him utilise every asset he has available to him, carefully planning and executing his missions, now he's very much alone...and improvising. For him it's a nightmare, trapped in a city filled with rival assassins, all looking to claim that $14 million bounty. But for us, it's delicious carnage as Wick literally kills his way through a multitude

The Matrix Expanded

Zak Penn has responded to the speculation on his possible involvement in a fourth 'Matrix' movie. You can view our original post on the Matrix reboot here . In a series of tweets, the writer made his position on the matter clear: All I can say at this point is no one could or should REBOOT the Matrix. People who know Animatrix and the comics understand. — Zak Penn (@zakpenn) 15 March 2017 Can't comment yet except to say that the words "reboot" and "remake" were from an article. Let's stop responding to inaccurate news. — Zak Penn (@zakpenn) 17 March 2017 If I were going to recast Keanu Reeves, I would cast Keanu Reeves. — Zak Penn (@zakpenn) 17 March 2017 How about just re-release the matrix? Don't reboot it, you can't do better. — Zak Penn (@zakpenn) 17 March 2017 Do I want to see more stories set in the universe of the matrix? Yes. Because it's a brilliant idea that generates great stories. —

The Matrix Rebooted?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. are looking to inject new life into The Matrix. The firm is said to be in talks with Zak Penn (X-Men 2, Behind Enemy Lines, The Avengers) to write a treatment. There is also chatter that Michael B. Jordan is being eyed for the starring role. What are your thoughts? Do you want to tumble down this rabbit hole or wake up from the nightmare? Red or Blue? In 1999, the Wachowskis took the world by storm with The Matrix. It's incredible story and visuals combining action, sci-fi and martial arts in ways not seen before. Certainly in Hollywood anyway. This, it seemed was the movie for the 21st Century. It would create new interest in Keanu Reeves, as well as making stars out of Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving and the Wachowskis. Then in 2003, the long awaited sequels hit cinemas and at first fans were incredibly excited. But after the initial hype we realised that despite some great action set pieces, Reloade

John Wick: Chapter 2: Average Guy Movie Review

The man that is sheer will is back, and he doesn't disappoint! In John Wick, the titular assassin opened a doorway into the underworld he left behind, in order to seek revenge on the people who killed his dog and stole his car. Now a demon from his past - someone to whom he's bound by a blood oath - has come through the doorway and dragged John back into his old life. The demon is Santino D'Antonio, an Italian crime lord who helped John with the impossible task that allowed him to escape the life. In order to fulfil the oath, John must complete a task for Santino, something Santino can't or won't do himself. The problem with sequels is more often than not, it follows exactly the same pattern as the first movie, only with different characters. The Hangover Part 2, Ghostbusters 2, Jaws 2 are all guilty of this. John Wick: Chapter 2 doesn't make this mistake. It doesn't necessarily bring anything new to the table, but it does delve deeper into the
