Moustache Lockdown Streaming Survival Guide Part 8 | Aaron Sorkin

With the latest entry in our Lockdown Streaming Survival Guide I decided to adopt a different approach. Instead of looking at one particular movie or TV show, I thought it would be fun to explore the works of one of my favourite writer/directors, and where you can find them. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the King of Dialogue... Mr Aaron Sorkin. Don't forget to check out the other entries in our Lockdown Streaming Survival Guide, you can find them all by clicking here . Let's kick things off at the beginning, with the legendary adaptation of Sorkin's stage play; A Few Good Men. Directed by Rob Reiner and based on the work of Sorkin's sister with the US Navy's JAG Corp, the movie is most famous for that intense verbal slanging match between Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson, however it's still one of the best courtroom dramas out there. Even on a rewatch it still makes for an intense and exciting watch.  Cruise's cheeky, laid back, rather un-military approach t

The Trial of the Chicago 7 | Average Guy Movie Review

After the riots that took place at the 1968 Democratic Convention, a group of anti-war protestors were named as defendants in a show trial brought by the Nixon administration. They were charged with conspiracy and crossing state lines with the intention of inciting riots, and what followed was probably one of the most controversial trials in the history of the American Justice system. With 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' Aaron Sorkin delivers an enthralling courtroom drama - and not for the first time.  Fans of the writer/director have another opportunity to enjoy the man's unique storytelling style, not to mention his awesome approach to dialogue. No one writes dialogue quite like Aaron Sorkin! Events j ump seamlessly between the '68 Democratic convention, the trial, and Abbie Hoffman's (Sacha Baron Cohen) recollections of both during an amusing stand-up routine. Sorkin - with the help of some clever editing and good use of soundtrack - expertly drives the tension up

‘The Newsroom’ isn’t Returning...But It Should Be!

Olivia Munn has apparently spoken to Aaron Sorkin about a return to the small screen for ‘The Newsroom’. Munn, who played finance expert (putting it lightly) Sloan Sabbith on the show recently told Entertainment Tonight: “Tom Sadoski and myself, we’ve actually been having conversations with Sorkin about that.” Adding: “He’s very busy, but we have very high hopes that it would be able to come together, hopefully.” Before beginning her career as an actor, Munn earned a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Japanese from the University of Oklahoma. “As somebody who went to journalism school and has such love for journalists and media, it was to me that show was always a love letter to journalists, showing the struggles of what they go through to really tell the stories they want to tell.” Aaron Sorkin has since confirmed that he doesn’t intend to reboot the show, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea. ‘The Newsroom’ ran for three seasons between 2012 and 2014. Molly's Game | Average Guy Movie Review

Much like 2010's The Social Network, Molly's Game takes us into a Sorkin-esque dramatisation of history. After a fall robs her of her goal of skiing in the Olympics, Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain) goes in search of her new self, one that doesn't involve skis. A decision that more than displeases her father and coach (Kevin Costner). Molly's journey takes her to Los Angeles where she finds work as an assistant. Part of her job is to host her boss' private poker game. With the help of one of the players, an unidentified actor - played by Michael Cera - Molly is soon running one of the most exclusive poker games in Hollywood, living solely on the tips she receives from the players. Intertwined with the story of her incredible rise is that of her fall, her arrest by the FBI and trial for ties to organised crime. Idris Elba co-stars as Molly's lawyer, Charlie Jaffey. Aaron Sorkin, the writer known for engrossing stories, interesting characters and snappy
