Tenet | Average Guy Movie Review

An American spy (John David Washington) is tasked with a very dangerous mission, one that has a time sensitive nature and potential global ramifications. In order to achieve his goal, the man known only as "The Protagonist" will have to get close to  Andrei Sator (Kenneth Branagh),  a deadly Russian arms dealer. But what is the Russian up to? And with the threat of something worse than nuclear holocaust hanging over every life on this planet, will our protagonist be able to figure it out in time to stop him? There is no doubt at all that this is Christopher Nolan's most ambitious project to date. If you thought his previous movies were made on a grand scale, you ain't seen nothing yet! Tenet truly is mind-boggling, you could watch it five times and still not have it all figured out - a s is pointed out to Washington's character: "Don't try to understand it, feel it."  Things move fast too. Nolan kicks things off right from the start and he doesn

Tenet | Moustache Trailer Reaction

The new trailer for Tenet has landed and it's mind-bending! If you haven't seen it yet, or you just want to watch it again, check it out below: As you'd expect, we still don't really know much, other than the movie looks awesome. If it helps here is the official synopsis: "Armed with only one word -- Tenet -- and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time." The first thing I think of when I watch this trailer is a certain line from Inception; "you mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling." I think this is basically Christopher Nolan's mantra, the words he must live by - or at least applies to his work. Nolan is a writer/director who's great across the board. He can do action, drama, tension, emotion, good characters, and he does it all very well. With Tenet there'

Going in Style: Average Guy Movie Review

Every now and then, it's nice to sit down and watch a light-hearted movie that isn't going to challenge you. Going in Style is one of those movies, three great actors having a bit of fun. When three old friends; Joe (Michael Caine), Willie (Morgan Freeman) and Albert (Alan Arkin) discover the company they spent decades working for is moving overseas and their pensions are to be dissolved, they face losing everything they've worked for. In order to prevent this from happening, they decide to take matters into their own hands by robbing the bank that's handling the company's transition. Directed by Zach Braff, Going in Style is a remake of the 1979 movie of the same name. It's fair to say this isn't going to win any awards, but does that really matter? In this day and age, the situation the three leads find themselves in is very relatable for far too many people! Now I'm not saying that you should rob a bank when facing financial trouble and neith

Now You See Me 2: Average Guy Movie Review

Back in July 2013, I was on a ferry coming home from a holiday in Europe, the journey would last all night and I was on my own. After boarding I was relieved to find there was a cinema on board, that night's viewing was Now You See Me. I have to admit I was less than excited about this movie but with nothing better to do I thought: why not? As it turned out, Now You See Me was ridiculous, but it was light-hearted, ridiculous fun that I actually quite enjoyed. Skip ahead to present day and Now You See Me 2 has arrived, but has it captured the magic of the first movie? Set a year later, the Horsemen are in hiding and are getting restless. When their next performance goes wrong, the Horsemen find themselves in Macau, where they are forced to work for the mysterious Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe). What does he want and what are his true motives for exposing them? In order to avoid the authorities and expose Mabry, the Horsemen have to pull off one more grand performance.
