Morbius | Average Guy Movie Review

The gifted Dr Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) has dedicated his life to finding a cure for the rare blood disorder that afflicts him. As time has gone on his research has looked to more extreme avenues, which has led him to the study of bats. In his desperation, Morbius tests a potential cure on himself. The result of which goes way beyond eliminating his condition, granting him superhuman abilities, as well as a thirst  for blood. I think it's fair to say that Sony's attempts to build a Marvel  universe based around characters associated with Spider-Man  have not been their most successful. Both Venom  and Venom: Let There Be Carnage  have been met with a reasonable amount of criticism. I personally enjoyed the first movie, although I can't say the same for the sequel, which at the very least does not live up to its title. Bringing us to the next Spidey villain/anti-hero that Sony has rolled out to populate their fledgeling - or should that be floundering - universe... Doctor

Venom: Let There Be Carnage | Average Guy Movie Review

After a year of living together, the relationship between Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom (also Tom Hardy) is strained. While Venom wants to get out there and munch on bad guys, Eddie is trying to keep a low profile as he tries to get his life back together. But when the pair visit Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), Venom accidentally shares a piece of himself with the death row inmate, resulting in the emergence of a new symbiote - Carnage. This allows Kasady to escape his execution and bring chaos to San Francisco. And the only one(s) who can stop him, aren't getting along right now. Sony's superpowered antihero odd couple are back, and with the both of them stuck in Eddie Brock's body, things are getting tense. Imagine what it would be like sharing your body with a toddler on a sugar rush, that's Eddie's life with Venom.  How do you enforce rules on a being that's a) more powerful than you, and b) can control your body? The answer being; with great difficulty

Venom | Average Guy Movie Review

When investigative journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) starts looking into the Life Foundation and its head, Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), he makes a shocking discovery. Drake's astronauts have discovered alien life, which they're bringing back to Earth. Through his investigation, Brock is accidentally exposed to one of the life forms. This "symbiote" as it's known bonds with him, granting him incredible powers and abilities. The question is, what will he do with those powers? In the build-up to it's release, Venom has received a lot of negativity, it has been described as "unexciting" and "aggressively loud and stupid" by critics. When I read this I have to ask; what movie were they watching? Venom is a simple yet fun comic book movie/origin story/buddy comedy. Thanks to some great special effects, all of the symbiotes look great, especially when interacting with their hosts. The action is very exciting, although it does take a wh

Tom Hardy cast as Venom | Moustache Reaction

Sony's reboot of their Marvel universe took a step in the right direction this week. Tom Hardy has been cast as Eddie Brock in the upcoming Venom movie. It was confirmed yesterday when Sony tweeted a picture of Hardy wearing a Venom t-shirt. The actor, known for The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road and Inception is said to be a big fan of the character. The movie is set for an October 5th 2018 release and will be directed by Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer.
