No Time To Die | Average Guy Movie Review

After the events of Spectre , James Bond (Daniel Craig) rode off into the sunset, or at least he drove. He and Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) went in search of a more peaceful life. But they never found it, and five years later Bond is living a solitary retirement in Jamaica. That is until Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) shows up with a favour to ask, dragging Bond back into the world he has tried so desperately to leave behind. It's hard to believe we've waited almost two years for No Time To Die  to hit cinemas. Fourth release is the charm, I guess. And what a wait it has been; roughly two years spent wondering how this James Bond would bow out. Once again Daniel Craig shows us a different side to the super spy, as his relationship with Madeleine Swann becomes the central focus. D rawing inspiration from  On Her Majesty's Secret Service  (an unforeseen but brilliant move, even if it does mean enduring Louis Armstrong's 'We Have All The Time In The World'), the mo

Moustache Lockdown Streaming Survival Guide Part 15 | The Dig

It's not every day that a movie arrives on Netflix - or on any platform, for that matter - featuring a story that took place just down the road from where you live... well, where I live, anyway. But that is exactly the case with 'The Dig', a movie that explores the excavation of an important Anglo-Saxon burial site on the eve of World War 2. Don't forget to check out the rest of our Lockdown Streaming Survival Guide, which you can find here . In 1939, Edith Pretty (Carey Mulligan) hires local excavator and amateur archaeologist Basil Brown (Ralph Fiennes) to investigate a series of possible burial mounds on her property at Sutton Hoo in Suffolk. What they uncover soon draws the attention of the British Museum, and they must fight to maintain control of their discovery. First off, it's important to note that 'The Dig' isn't based on a true story in the usual sense, it's based on the novel that is based on the real event. So as a depiction of a history

Official Secrets | Average Guy Movie Review

The story of Katharine Gun (Keira Knightley), a translator for British intelligence charged with a breach of the Official Secrets Act. Whilst working for GCHQ, Gun was copied in on an American memo requesting any useful information in relation to UN Security Council delegates. This was part of a surveillance operation - spearheaded by the NSA - designed to secure a UN resolution for an invasion of Iraq. Seeing this as proof of an illegal action, Gun leaked the memo to the media in the hope that it would stop the war. But when Martin Bright (Matt Smith) wrote an article about the memo in The Observer newspaper, GCHQ began hunting for the whistleblower and Katharine faced a prison sentence for trying to do the right thing. The thing that makes this story so incredible is that it doesn't involve the actions of a super spy. No, Katharine Gun was - and still is - a regular person, one who saw something wrong and risked everything to do something about it. Director Gavin Hood (Re

The LEGO Batman Movie: Average Guy Movie Review

After appearing in 2014's The LEGO Movie as a supporting character, Will Arnett's Batman takes centre stage in The LEGO Batman Movie. With Batman continually refusing help from everyone, insisting he only works alone and needs no-one, those around him begin to feel unappreciated...including the Joker! As a result, the new commissioner considers a Gotham without Batman, and Joker (Zach Galifianakis) goes to new levels to prove himself Batman's greatest enemy. Much like its predecessor, The LEGO Batman Movie is incredible to watch. The animation is stunning from start to finish. Everything in this Lego world looks buildable, Chris McKay and his team have definitely earned the title of 'Master Builders'. And this world is full of hilarious references to Batman and the extended DC universe. Many of them are hidden within the vast and impressive caverns of the Batcave, including every Batmobile the Dark Knight has ever driven. There's a brilliant tribute to p
