Alien: Romulus | Average Guy Movie Review

A young group of workers trapped on a Weyland-Yutani mining colony, locked into almost inescapable work contracts, look to escape their torment by salvaging the necessary equipment from a derelict ship caught in their planet's orbit. They just need Rain (Cailee Spaeny) and her brother, Andy (David Jonsson) to gain access. Unfortunately, what looks to be a quick and easy job proves to be anything but when the ship's true purpose is revealed, and the scavengers discover they are not alone. Civil War | Average Guy Movie Review

In the midst of a second US civil war, four journalists (Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny, Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson) travel to Washington DC in the hopes of scoring an interview with the President (Nick Offerman). But this isn't a piece of propaganda for any political side or ideology, even if Nick Offerman's President - who we don't get to see enough of - is mildly reminiscent of a certain controversial US political figure. Much like the central four protagonists the movie remains neutral. It's more of an examination of the chaos and the carnage that our own polarisation c

Pacific Rim: Uprising | Average Guy Movie Review

It has been ten years since Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori closed the Breach and ended the Kaiju war. Mori is now in charge of the Pan-Pacific Defence Corp (PPDC) which stands ready should a new Kaiju threat appear, they're also busy policing the black market trade in Jaeger tech. When one of those traders - Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), former Jaeger pilot and son of the legendary Stacker Pentecost - lands on the PPDC's radar, he's given a choice; prison or re-join the PPDC as an instructor. But with certain parties looking to privatise the Jaeger program, the next threat Jake and his fellow Rangers face may be a little closer to home. In his feature film directorial debut Steven S. DeKnight, the man behind the Marvel/Netflix show Daredevil takes over from Guillermo del Toro who took a back seat in order to direct The Shape of Water. DeKnight has done a good job of recreating the world seen in the original. We get a glimpse of how the world is and isn't recoveri
