Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny | Average Guy Movie Review

It's 1969, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is about to retire, when out of the blue his goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) shows up with questions about an ancient artifact known as the Antikythera. But she's not the only person looking for it. Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen) - a Nazi scientist - is also on the trail, and he intends to use the Antikythera to correct what he sees as the mistakes of the past. Making it a race against time for Indy and his new found friend to make sure the past stays the way it is. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny  - awful title, I know -  explodes on to screen with a de-aged Indy and his friend Baz (Toby Jones) causing the retreating German army trouble in 1944. It's the perfect way to kick off what is meant to be Ford's final movie with the fedora and whip - with a lunatic escapade to recover a piece of history, reminiscent of the crusading archaeologist's classic adventures. The technology used to de-age Hollywood's gru...

Rogue One: Average Guy Movie Review

For many, Christmas has come early with the arrival of 2016's most anticipated movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The events described in the opening crawl of A New Hope have been brought to life by British Director Gareth Edwards. Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is recruited by the Rebel Alliance to find her father Galen (Mads Mikkelsen), the man responsible for designing the Death Star in an attempt to secure a copy of the plans for the super-weapon. Backing her up are a Rebel Intelligence Officer, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and his reprogrammed Imperial Enforcement Droid, K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), as well as warriors Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) and Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen) and former Imperial Pilot Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed). Ben Mendelsohn plays Orson Krennic, Director of Advanced Weapons Research, the Imperial Officer overseeing construction of the Death Star and the one trying to prevent the theft of the plans. For the first time ever, the word 'prequel' can be applied to a S...

Doctor Strange: Average Guy Movie Review

They say that some roles are written for specific actors, you know...like it's fate or destiny that such and such fits this role perfectly. Well I'm starting to think Benedict Cumberbatch is the example that doesn't necessarily disprove this theory, but declares it utter bullshit instead! Cumberbatch knocked it out of the park as Sherlock, he literally kicked arse as Khan (or John Harrison depending on your point of view) and now he is mystical, maybe even spellbinding as Marvel's Doctor Stephen Strange. Strange is a brilliant yet arrogant neurosurgeon until a horrific car crash severely damages his hands and robs him of his ability to do what he loves. After exhausting every possibility modern medicine can provide he looks to more mystical solutions, which leads him to The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) who shows him there's more to this world than he ever thought possible. With the help of Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Wong (Benedict Wong), The Ancient On...

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Official Trailer 2

The final trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has landed (watch it below), and what an epic trailer it is! Last year Episode 7 made for a very Merry Christmas indeed and it looks like Disney will deliver the same with Rogue One this year. I'm not going to go on and on, I want you to watch the trailer. But Star Wars looks to be returning to the glory of its heyday, and what a story to do it with. After almost 40 years we will finally see how Princess Lea got hold of the Death Star plans. Clearly a lot of hard work and dedication have been put in to this project and I look forward to seeing the final result. If Rogue One is a success, will we get to see (and I'm paraphrasing here) many Bothans die to bring us the plans for Death Star 2? A little morbid I know but what the hell. Until then enjoy Rogue One's Trailer 2 and get excited for its release in December. Let us know what you think of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story by leaving a comment below or find us on...
