After The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Henry Cavill will not be returning to the role of Superman, fans have been speculating about the future of the role and the DCEU, not to mention future roles that Cavill might take on. It is being said that contract talks - including a Shazam cameo - have broken down due to scheduling conflicts. With Warner Bros. looking to change things up with their comic book movie franchise, the DCEU or DC Extended Universe was recently rebranded as "Worlds of DC". Focus on the Kryptonian front is said to be shifting to a Supergirl origin story, said to feature a teenage version of the heroine. Which would rule Cavill out because - according to DC lore - that would make Superman a toddler.  Regardless of what you call it, in recent years DC has definitely played second fiddle to Marvel, when it comes to movies anyway. This isn't going to be a long and detailed breakdown of the Ultimate Edition, however there are some spoilers ahead. I'm not going to go through every subtle difference in intricate detail. But I am going to explain why I think the Ultimate Edition is worth a watch. First of all, if you haven't seen Batman v Superman, don't bother with the theatrical cut. Go straight to the Ultimate Edition, it's by far the better version and not just because it's longer. The Ultimate Edition is what Zack Snyder wanted us to see, but it was cut for a lower age certificate and a shorter run time. Now I'm not sure that the changes are enough to make those who passionately hate the movie change their minds. But those who don't like the theatrical cut may be impressed by the changes, of which there are many. After three years of waiting, it has finally arrived. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, possibly one of the most talked about, debated movies of recent years. But was it worth the wait? So far the critics have not been positive about this movie, in fact as I write this the rating on Rotten Tomatoes stands at 28%. However, the audience score is currently 72%, quite a difference of opinion! As the title of this post might suggest I'm not a movie critic, I'm just an average guy who loves movies, and yes I loved this movie. There's only one small part I didn't like, I'm not going to reveal it because I'm not in the habit of spoiling movies. I think it might be explained in the upcoming Justice League movies but right now, without context it's weird. 2016 is a big year for DC and Warner Brothers, it's the year where they begin to roll out what's being called the "DC Extended Universe", DC's answer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU. But is there a problem with Batman v Superman? It's been three years since Man of Steel hit cinemas, compared to Marvel who get movies out every year and plan to every year up to 2019 this is slow. Granted where Marvel made several origin stories first and then brought the Avengers together DC are using   Batman v Superman to unite the Justice League and open up the DCEU.
