The first trailer for Marvel Studios' The Eternals  has landed, and while it doesn't give all that much away, it does promise something a little different to what has gone before it. If you haven't seen the trailer or just want to watch it again, you can check it out below. This trailer leaves me more curious than excited, which in a way feels the wrong way round. Normally I'm just excited to see where the latest Marvel adventure is taking us. It is nice, however, to see an upcoming instalment of the MCU on the horizon that I know next to nothing about.  There really isn't much here to work with. The trailer establishes that these long-living, superpowered beings exist. They have been living on Earth for quite a while - having arrived on a ship that looks like a giant, flying slab of granite - and have influenced but not interfered with humanity in order to see us develop. Oh, and they're not so hidden as to be unaware of what's going on in the world/galaxy.

Set during the Great War, '1917' follows the story of Lance Corporals William Schofield (George MacKay) and Tom Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman). Tasked with an important mission, the two young soldiers must cross no man's land in order to reach an advancing British battalion, and stop them from marching into a German trap. If they fail to deliver the message in time 1600 men will be slaughtered - including Blake's older brother. Time truly is the enemy in this tense and unforgiving war drama. There aren't many movies that I would say you definitely have to see in the cinema, but '1917' is definitely one of them. Sam Mendes' tribute to his grandfather is something you really should see on the big screen. The way it's shot - like one continuous take - makes it more of an immersive experience than most other movies. Idris Elba stars in this mediocre action movie in which an American pick pocket is linked to a terrorist bombing in Paris. When CIA Agent Sean Briar (Elba) is able to identify our friendly neighbourhood pick pocket as Michael Mason (Richard Madden) a game of cat and mouse across Paris ensues on the eve of the Bastille Day celebrations. Bastille Day attempts to be like Bourne and Taken but doesn't quite make it. Elba's performance is like an overly cheesy combination of Jason Bourne, Brian Mills and Jack Bauer with really bad one liners included. Maybe he got tips from Gerard Butler on the set of London has Fallen. Briar's methods range from questionable to down right ridiculous. Mason is a low life pick pocket who's supposedly smart but comes across stupid at best and only cares for himself making it impossible to care what happens to him.
