The Electric State | Average Guy Movie Review

Set in an alternate 1990's, in which a robot uprising has been crushed, and the people experience life through VR headsets. When Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown), an orphan who lost her family in a car crash, encounters a strange robot, it sets her on a journey to find her long lost brother. Along the way she'll team up with smuggler, Keats (Chris Pratt) and his robot pal, Herm (Anthony Mackie). The Russos' latest project for Netflix  may be rather expensive - one of the most expensive movies ever made - but that hasn't really translated into anything significant. The Electric State  is a fun adventure flick with likeable characters and some stunning visuals. Strange to say, but the fact the robots look so incredibly real is the one thing that makes it possible to immerse yourself in this world - that and their quirky interactions with our two human heroes. However, the movie is far from anything spectacular - apart from the aforementioned visuals - and it would certainly ...

Godzilla vs Kong | Average Guy Movie Review

When Kong is removed from Skull Island as part of a major expedition, Godzilla quickly steps in to assert his position as King of the Monsters. What follows is a heavy-weight bout of epic proportions, one that reveals an ancient rivalry between the two species. But with the Apex Cybernetics corporation picking up the tab, is there more to this expedition than meets the eye? It's movies like this that should really be seen on the big screen! Between the breath-taking visuals and epic kaiju fights - all of which is set perfectly to Junkie XL's fantastic score - Adam Wingard's foray into the MonsterVerse certainly lives up to its title. Seeing these two giants - as well as a certain third player - knock seven bells out of each other is... well, monstrous fun. And because the visuals are so crisp, you can appreciate every punch, every radioactive breath and every smashed building. In that respect Godzilla vs Kong is exactly what fans want; a humongous clash of the titans, from ...

Godzilla vs. Kong | Moustache Trailer Reaction

The first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong has quite literally crashed on to our screens, and it promises all the destruction you'd expect of a global fight between titans. If you haven't seen the trailer, or just want to watch it again, you can check it out below. Adam Wingard (The Guest, Blair Witch) leads the charge in the latest entry in the 'MonsterVerse', which sees two of the behemoths go head to head. We haven't seen Kong since 1973, and now it seems that Monarch need him for some unknown reason, one that undoubtedly involves global destruction if they fail. We know it has something to do with Kong's "true home", and a war that wiped out most of the titans. What that means for all of the titans seen bowing to Godzilla at the end of King of the Monsters is anybody's guess, at this point. But Godzilla's all pissed off for some reason, and is determined to get in the way of Kong's journey of discovery. Hence why every time the two titans ...

Godzilla: King of the Monsters | Average Guy Movie Review

The world has changed since the events of Godzilla (2014). Monarch - the agency responsible for locating and studying Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms (M.U.T.O.) AKA 'Titans' - has discovered many new creatures around the world, all of which are in hibernation. But when they start waking up, Godzilla returns to establish order. And the humans are left trying to figure out why this is all happening, before the behemoths take back the planet they once ruled. Michael Dougherty takes over as director for the third instalment of the Monsterverse, and he has gone all out. Compared to the first two movies, the scale of King of the Monsters is off the charts. This is what a big, ridiculous monster movie is supposed to be; big monsters kicking the living shit out of each other, whilst also causing biblical levels of destruction. There's no waiting around for brief glimpses of the monsters this time, they show up early to demand their fair share of screen time. And ...
