How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World | Average Guy Movie Review

It has been a year since Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and the Dragon Riders defeated Drago Bludvist, and in that time Berk has become rather overcrowded. In an effort to save the human/dragon utopia, Hiccup goes in search of the Hidden World, a place where dragons can exist in peace, safe from from the hunters who seek to enslave them. But the actions of the Berkians have drawn the attention of Bludvist's old allies, who hire Grimmel the Grisly (F. Murray Abraham) - an infamous dragon hunter - to steal the dragons for their army. Now, Hiccup must decide whether humans and dragons can really live together peacefully, in order to do what's right for his old buddy Toothless, and all of the dragons. The third and final movie in the 'How To Train Your Dragon' franchise has arrived, and what an emotional rollercoaster it is. Dean DeBlois and his team really have gone out with a bang on this one. All three movies have cleverly pushed audiences through the emotional ringer, bu...

Ocean's Eight | Average Guy Movie Review

After 5 years, Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) gets out of prison with a plan for a big score. She intends to steal a Cartier necklace worth $150 million from the neck of the Hollywood socialite wearing it (Anne Hathaway), during New York's annual Met Gala. If she's going to pull this off, Debbie will need to assemble a crew of skilled individuals...maybe 7 or 8 of them. Director Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) has done a reasonable job of filling Steven Soderbergh's shoes. Ocean's Eight - much like its predecessors - is a lot of fun. It's also a sequel, not a remake. Debbie Ocean is the sister of the now deceased Danny, something the movie repeatedly reminds you of. But apart from the references to Danny and a couple of cameos, Ocean's Eight does a good job of standing on its own two feet. The casting is perfect, our crew of quirky criminals all have excellent chemistry. Bullock and Blanchett are excellent as the ring leaders, just don't try any of Debbi...

Thor: Ragnarok | Average Guy Movie Review

The God of Thunder returns in his third solo outing and this time he must save Asgard from Cate Blanchett's Hela, the Goddess of Death. But not before he escapes the clutches of The Grand Master (Jeff Goldblum), who forces Thor to participate in a gladiatorial match with his "friend from work". By adding his unique, nutty humour into the mix, director Taika Waititi takes Thor and the MCU in a new direction. Ragnarok is dark and serious and light and funny, all at the same time, and Waititi manages to strike a perfect balance between the two. Despite all of the changes - well tweaks - this still looks like a Thor movie, they haven't tried to distance Ragnarok from the previous entries. But whereas the first two did feel kind of separate from the galaxy we see in Guardians, this one bridges the gap by bringing Asgard into the wider universe. So it's only fitting that our hero faces a new kind of villain. First there's Hela. Having escaped the ...

Thor: Ragnarok Teaser Trailer

Check out the trailer below... Finally, we've caught a glimpse of Taika Waititi's vision for the God of Thunder's third solo adventure. The teaser trailer hints at what Thor (and one of his work colleagues) was up to while the rest of the Avengers were falling out back on Earth.   It appears that Asgard falls victim to Hela (Cate Blanchett), who according to Blanchett "has been locked away for millenia getting more and more cross". After seeing Hela destroy Mjolnir, Thor finds himself in the hands of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) on the planet Sakaar. There he is forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena and one of his opponents is the Hulk. The big green rage monster is said to be more than just...well a big green rage monster like in previous movies. In fact Ruffalo describes him as having "swagger". There are hints at other new characters, including Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Skurge (Karl Urban).  Tom Hiddleston returns as Loki, w...
