Fly Me To The Moon | Average Guy Movie Review

Ad-Exec Kelly Jones (Scarlett Johansson) is hired by the US government to reignite the public's interest in NASA, and their battle to beat the Soviets to the moon. Her attempts to market the space race cause her to bump heads with Launch Director, Cole Davis (Channing Tatum). But her successes please those in Washington so much they give her a slightly bigger task; fake the Apollo 11 moon landing... or at least film a fake landing just in case the real one fails. Fly Me To The Moon  is a movie of two halves. On the one hand it's a quirky rom-com about an Ad-Exec working for NASA, and on the other it's a kind of history/conspiracy drama about filming a fake moon landing. Unsurprisingly, the results are rather inconsistent. As the movie jumps between the two narratives it becomes painfully clear that the two halves just don't marry up - certainly when it comes to the movie's tone. In fact, it's like the ideas for two very different movies have been forced together...

Black Widow | Average Guy Movie Review

After the events of Captain America: Civil War , Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is on the run from everybody, and looking to simply disappear. But the arrival of a strange package leads her back to an old life, forcing her to not only consider her future but also to confront her past, and the 'family' she once knew. The word that springs to mind when watching Black Widow  is 'cathartic'. This movie has been a long time coming, desired by both fans and filmmakers alike. After having appeared as a co-star in several solo outings, as well as being part of the team in all of the Avengers movies, both Johansson and Romanoff are more than deserving of a movie to call their own. So the question is; was it worth the wait?  Marvel have taken an interesting approach with this one. Instead of making a straight up prequel/origin story - although it is technically a prequel - we are presented with a more modern story, but one that harkens back to certain pivotal moments in he...

JOJO RABBIT | Moustache Trailer Reaction

The new trailer for Jojo Rabbit is here, and it still looks like the maddest movie we've seen in a long time! If you haven't seen the trailer yet, check it out below: Lets face it, you see a child charging through the woods with a grenade whilst a rather eccentric looking man - with a funny moustache - frolics along beside him, all to the sound of Smash Mouth's "I'm a Believer" (in German of course), you know you're about to watch something special. Although the shot of the kid throwing his knife at a tree only for it to bounce back into his friend's leg is still one of the funniest things I've seen in film. But with this new trailer we're starting to see the more serious side to Taika Waititi's anti-hate satire (based on the book "Caging Skies" by Christine Leunens). Jojo (Roman Griffin Davis) is just a lonely kid, one who desperately wants to belong, and in order to do so has bought into Nazism. But his ...

JOJO RABBIT | Moustache Teaser Reaction

If Top Gun: Maverick is the most exciting teaser of late, then the teaser trailer for "Jojo Rabbit" has got to be the most bizarre. If you haven't seen it, check it out below: Taika Waititi's latest movie is based on the book "Caging Skies" by Christine Leunens, and tells the story of Jojo "Rabbit" Betzler (Roman Griffin Davis). A member of the Hitler Youth, Jojo's world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl in their attic. And the only person he has to turn to as he attempts to deal with all that he's going through, is his imaginary friend...Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi). Now I know what you're thinking; "this sounds bat shit insane!" And to be fair, you're probably right. But Jojo Rabbit looks - in true Waititi fashion - absolutely hysterical. It is definitely something you have to see to believe, and that's just the trail...
