Ghostbusters (2016): Average Guy Movie Review

It's fair to say that Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot has been shrouded in a mist of controversy since it's announcement only to be hit by a tsunami of hatred. Before I get into the review I'd just like to say that it doesn't matter how much you like the 1984 original, you don't have the right to be a dick to people! Be it a racist dick, a sexist dick or just a general dick! Either on the internet or in person. The fact that Leslie Jones has had to quit Twitter because of bullying and harassment is shameful! As a successful comedian and actress she deserves our respect, getting a starring role in a major Hollywood movie is an incredible achievement. Leslie Jones is by far the best thing about this movie, she steals the show in every scene she's in and I look forward to seeing her in more movies. Ok rant over, let's talk about Ghostbusters. The new crew I've seen the movie twice, once in 3D and once in 4DX. For my thoughts on 4DX click he

Ghostbusters Revealed

A person who claims to work in post production (I'm guessing at Sony) has posted a breakdown of the new Ghostbusters on Reddit, which you could see here  but not any more. 'Deep Throat' as they shall be known claims to have seen an early version of the movie and describes the plot from start to finish and reveals details of the original cast members cameo appearances. Obviously there is no way of confirming the authenticity until the movie is released but if it's real the reboot will be terrible. Now, Deep Throat claims to have seen an early version which means improvements could have been made. It's also possible that because it's a quick summary that's poorly written it makes the movie sound worse than it is, especially considering most of the comedy is either absent or lost. Deep Throat may just not like the movie or the fact that it's a reboot and this is his way of showing it, maybe even sabotaging it. Ever since I heard Sony was rebootin

The first Ghostbusters Trailer has arrived

This week the first trailer for Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot arrived and reactions have been mixed.  Granted this is only the first trailer and the movie's release date isn't until July which leaves plenty of time to release more trailers but it's not a great start. We already know that this movie is a reboot not a sequel yet the trailer begins by reminding us what happened in the first movie. In fact there are several references to the original throughout the trailer. It's a nice tribute to a classic but confusing for those viewing the trailer who know nothing about the movie. For fans of the original it might be annoying to find out it's not a sequel after being led to believe it is. Now the first trailer is supposed to be a teaser! You're meant to see little snippets of the movie which will generate interest in the movie. But this trailer gives away pretty much an entire scene where Melissa McCarthy is possessed by a ghost and attacks Kate

Ghostbusters Reloaded

This week Movie Web released cast photos of the new Ghostbusters movie. Images courtesy of Google Images Please leave classic movies alone!!! Now I'm not saying the movie won't be any good. Paul Feig's last couple of films; Spy and the Heat are quite good and successful. But if he can come up with successful, original material, why remake a classic? Granted, if Feig doesn't Sony will get someone else and not necessarily someone as good. Remakes are real money makers. Even with a new script you haven't had to develop and idea and you already have an established fan base who will go and see it. So the movie will generate a new fan base as well as drawing in fans of the original. The new fans will probably also want to see the originals which means more sales and rentals on top of the new films profits. Just because a movie makes money, doesn't make it a good movie! That being said, Feig is sticking to his usual formula: Melissa McCarthy a
