After a brief hiatus - mainly to go see Deadpool & Wolverine  - I'm back to rewatching the X-Men  movies. As with Part 1  it's a mixed bag of movies, with some legendary highs, some rather unfortunate lows, and very little in between. For every Logan  there's an Apocalypse , I guess. So Logan survived his little adventure in Japan, only to come face to face with two old friends seeking his help with a coming threat. Cut to a few years later and the world has been ravaged by war, but I don't think that's Logan's fault. Days of Future Past  is certainly one of the more ambitious X-Men  movies, and it pays off. So... Deadpool & Wolverine . They're bringing the X-Men  and many more Fox  characters into the MCU . It is a movie phenomenon of epic proportions, not only seeing the oddball pair finally team up, but seeing them bring one cinematic universe into another. What will that mean for the MCU ? How many of these beloved characters will they bring over, and will they be played by the same actors? Yes and no, I guess. There are many questions surrounding this monumental cinematic event, and some of the answers may still be a long way off. On the bright side, that means there's plenty of time to revisit every movie in Fox's X-Men  franchise, which is exactly what I've done. Having given up being Deadpool, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a little down on his luck. So when the Time Variance Authority (TVA) come calling with a job offer, the merc with a mouth is all ears. And he has the perfect partner in mind, now he just needs to find him... well, the right "him", anyway. In true Deadpool  tradition, Wade Wilson - along with his new best friend - explodes on to the big screen in another hysterical opening credits sequence, giving you a not so subtle hint of what to expect over the course of his first movie in six years. Yep, that's right. It has finally happened. Deadpool has landed himself a place in a dark corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe , and he's brought everyone's favourite Adamantium clawed mutant with him. Was it worth the wait? During a mission to save the crew of a damaged space shuttle, Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) is exposed to an immense cosmic energy, one that probably should have killed her. Instead it amplifies her abilities, to the point where she no longer has full control. With people getting hurt, the X-Men have no choice but to step in. The second trailer for Dark Phoenix - the latest movie in the X-Men franchise, and the last under 20th Century Fox - has landed. And if you're keen to avoid spoilers, stop reading now!
