The Hack | Average Guy TV Review

Nick Davies (David Tennant), a freelance journalist for The Guardian , investigates the use of phone hacking by the News of the World and The Sun  newspapers. While Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Cook (Robert Carlyle) re-investigates the 1987 murder of Daniel Morgan, one of the Metropolitan Police Service's more troublesome unsolved cases, and one with links to the hacking scandal. The hacking scandal is one of those stories that gripped all of the UK, with equal parts fascination and outrage. Not only were the practices outrageous, so were the lengths that a certain few went to in order to cover them up. That is what Nick Davies found himself up against when he received a tip from an anonymous source as to the scale of the illicit operation being run by the News of the World . He was the first to report on the story, and The Hack  captures what an uphill struggle it was for him to force it into the light. All of which makes him the perfect person - through David Tennant...

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny | Average Guy Movie Review

It's 1969, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is about to retire, when out of the blue his goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) shows up with questions about an ancient artifact known as the Antikythera. But she's not the only person looking for it. Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen) - a Nazi scientist - is also on the trail, and he intends to use the Antikythera to correct what he sees as the mistakes of the past. Making it a race against time for Indy and his new found friend to make sure the past stays the way it is. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny  - awful title, I know -  explodes on to screen with a de-aged Indy and his friend Baz (Toby Jones) causing the retreating German army trouble in 1944. It's the perfect way to kick off what is meant to be Ford's final movie with the fedora and whip - with a lunatic escapade to recover a piece of history, reminiscent of the crusading archaeologist's classic adventures. The technology used to de-age Hollywood's gru...

Christopher Robin | Average Guy Movie Review

When a young Christopher Robin is sent off to boarding school, education followed by war and the complexities of real life soon come between him and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Now an efficiency manager for a luggage company, Christopher's work has him spending less and less time with his family, to the point where he has forgotten what is really important in life. But could a chance encounter with his old friend Winnie-the-Pooh be just the thing to set him straight. Despite being called Christopher Robin, it's unsurprisingly his little friends that steal the show. Anyone familiar with the Hundred Acre Wood will once again find these loveable characters tugging on their heart strings. The moment you hear that "silly old bear" speak, you will instantly be transported back to your childhood. Not to mention laughing out loud at all the funny - yet familiar - things he has to say. Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga and Roo have all been beautif...

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom | Average Guy Movie Review

It has been three years since Indominous Rex went on a rampage, and with the park forced to close, the dinosaurs have settled into a free and undisturbed existence on the island. That is until, after decades of being dormant, Isla Nublar's volcano - Mount Sibo - exploded into life. Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) now heads up the Dinosaur Protection Group, a non-profit organisation whose goal is to protect the animals. Dearing wants to evacuate all the dinosaurs before an eruption wipes out all life on the island and recruits Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) to help. But upon reaching Isla Nublar a third party's true intentions are revealed leaving Claire and Owen caught up in a web of conspiracy that could have global ramifications. The Jurassic Park franchise has had a rocky life. Jurassic Park was a smash hit. 20 years after creating the summer blockbuster with Jaws , Spielberg was back to revolutionise it with more animatronic monstrosities. Then 4 years later he trie...

Atomic Blonde Red Band Trailer

Check out the Red Band Trailer below... From Director David Leitch, half of the directing team behind John Wick comes cold war, action-thriller...Atomic Blonde. Charlize Theron stars as Lorraine Broughton, a spy for MI6 tasked with investigating the death of an agent and retrieving a list of double agents. Starring alongside Theron are James McAvoy, Sofia Boutella, John Goodman, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan. Broughton looks to be a combination of James Bond, Jason Bourne and Evelyn Salt. But given the director's previous work I'd say she's more like John Wick's sister. From the looks of the trailer, it appears Theron has had similar training as Keanu Reeves had, and she looks very capable. I really hope this is the movie that 'Salt' should have been!  Let us know what you think of the trailer by leaving a comment or find us on Facebook and Twitter.

Anthropoid: Average Guy Movie Review

On the 27th May 1942, Jozef Gabcik (Cillian Murphy) and Jan Kubis (Jamie Dornan) put into effect their plan to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich. Heydrich was the architect of the Final Solution, third highest ranking Nazi and head of German forces in occupied Czechoslovakia. Gabcik and Kubis were Czechoslovak agents working for the government in exile. 'Anthropoid', which means "resembling a human being in form" was the operation's codename. It's interesting to note that the agents were trained by British Intelligence. One of the men responsible for training them was Sir Christopher Lee. The movie begins with the two agents parachuting into Czechoslovakia and covers the entire operation, including the bloody aftermath in which 15,000 Czecholslovaks were killed. Anthropoid has been praised for it's historical accuracy.  Shot entirely in Prague, many of the real locations were used.   The assassination scene plays out in real time, accurately depicting...
