Wrath of Man | Average Guy Movie Review

A seemingly normal guy joins an armoured truck firm in Los Angeles. But it quickly becomes apparent that 'H' (Jason Statham) is not quite who he says he is. The question is; who is he really, and what is he really up to? A remake of the 2004 French movie Cash Truck  ( Le Convoyeur ), Wrath of Man  is a testosterone-fuelled, albeit dreary tale of a man out for revenge. One that certainly highlights the potential dangers of a career driving armoured trucks. The dreary stylings may be a strange choice for an action movie, but it is actually rather fitting, given that by its very nature, vengeance is a grim business. It doesn't take long for the bullets to start flying in some fairly tense action scenes, as every armed robber in Los Angeles seems to be interested in what these armoured trucks are carrying. Director Guy Ritchie brings a gritty blend of Hollywood action movie tropes as H - with some occasional help from his colleagues - takes on any wannabe robbers. Expect lots o

Honest Thief | Average Guy Movie Review

After successfully robbing a series of banks, Tom Dolan (Liam Neeson) meets Annie Wilkins (Kate Walsh), and they soon fall in love. However Tom decides that if they are to have a chance at a happy life together, he must first pay for his sins. But when he tries to turn himself in, he is framed for murder by two corrupt FBI agents looking to keep the stolen money for themselves. Now Tom must utilise his "particular set of skills" to clear his name... so he can turn himself in and go to prison. The first thing that strikes you when watching Honest Thief  is; if you're a bank robber looking to give up your life of crime, and the authorities have no clue who you are, maybe just stop robbing banks. It seems like a lot less hassle. You can always find a way to anonymously return the money, that is, if you want to. The second thing that strikes you is that simply quitting being a bank robber would definitely be the easier choice, given all of the extra crimes you'll have to

Sicario: Day of the Soldado | Average Guy Movie Review

When four suicide bombers are smuggled into the US by one of the Mexican cartels, the President designates these criminal organisations a terrorist threat. In an effort to weaken the cartels' position, CIA Agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) is brought in to start a war between them. Naturally Graver turns to his old ally, lawyer turned sicario Alejandro (Benecio del Toro) for help. The job involves kidnapping Isabela Reyes  (Isabela Moner) , the daughter of one of the cartel leaders, but when things go south Alejandro is forced to choose between his job and the girl. With Denis Villeneuve busy working on Blade Runner 2049, directing duties fell to Stefano Sollima (Gomorrah) who does a brilliant job picking up where Villeneuve left off. This is thanks in part to Taylor Sheridan, who delivers yet another fantastic script. Not only are his scripts fantastic, they're also incredibly relevant in today's society. Existing in the murky grey area established so well by the fi
