Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness | Average Guy Movie Review

After encountering America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), a young woman with the ability to travel between dimensions, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is blasted on a journey across the multiverse. But with an unseen foe interested in America's power, can he protect her? Including from himself. Sam Raimi returns to both the director's chair and the comic-book movie genre to deliver the MCU's first horror styled movie. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  is exactly the kind of bonkers you'd expect from The Evil Dead  director, and is still in keeping with the MCU. Stephen Strange is the perfect character for a fringe story like this because his work with the mystic arts puts him way out on the edge of everything, and Multiverse of Madness  takes us deeper into that world. Only this time we're able to explore what happens when his genius - and the arrogance that comes with it - gets the better of this supremo sorcerer. Something which raises a few trust issues

Wind River | Average Guy Movie Review

While hunting on the Wind River Indian Reservation, US Fish and Wildlife Agent Cory Lambert (Jeremy Renner) discovers the frozen body of a Native American girl. With jurisdiction falling to the FBI, Agent Jane Banner asks Lambert - a skilled tracker with detailed knowledge of the reservation - to assist in the investigation. Together they must battle a snowstorm and the harsh conditions on the reservation in order to catch the killer. Taylor Sheridan's directorial debut received an eight minute standing ovation after its premiere at Cannes. According to Sheridan - who also wrote the script - Wind River is "based on thousands of actual stories just like it". Two researchers were commissioned to find a statistic on missing Native American women and after three months work were unable to come up with one. This and the harsh life on the seventh largest reservation in the US are the underlying themes of this brutal crime drama. The two leads go together pe

Captain America: Civil War: Average Guy Movie Review

The Russo Brothers have kicked off Phase 3 of the MCU with Captain America: Civil War. In his third solo outing, the man out of time must watch his team and his friends get torn apart at a time when his new life collides with the old one. After a mission goes bad, the Avengers are faced with the Sokovia Accords, a document that'll put them under the control of the UN. This decision pits the team against each other, with half wanting to keep their independence and the other half wanting to keep the team together and on the right side of the law. The biggest rivalry somes in the form of Steve vs Tony. Steve fears the "agendas" and corruption of politicians and wants the Avengers to remain independent; "the safest hands are still our own". Whereas Tony is still dealing with the guilt of the Ultron incident and is possibly still carrying the effects of Scarlett Witch's fear inducing vision, and therefore believes the Avengers should be held acco
