Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | Average Guy Movie Review

In the wake of T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman)'s death, Wakanda is faced with a new threat. Other countries are once again looking to acquire vibranium, sometimes aggressively so. Up to now Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and her armies have been able to protect what's theirs. But the actions of these nations have drawn the attention of the under water world of Talokan, and its leader Namor (Tenoch Huerta), and he will stop at nothing to keep vibranium out of their hands. If nothing else, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever  is a loving tribute to Chadwick Boseman. The opening scenes featuring T'Challa's funeral carry with them the sadness of his passing, and yet, more importantly, they are a celebration of his life and the character he embodied. More than that, Wakanda Forever  - and all those who worked on it - carries on the legacy that he started with Black Panther . His absence is felt throughout, it's like a driving force behind everything, including some beautifull...

Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye | Moustache Trailer Reaction

It seems that Marvel has come up with a way to get us in the Christmas spirit early, this year. That's right; the trailer for their new show Hawkeye  has arrived, and if it's anything to go by, Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) will be bringing the festive cheer. For me, the announcement of a Hawkeye  show was a welcome one. I figured it was about time the most unappreciated Avenger got some love. In fact, I never understood why he is so unappreciated. He's a fun character, and Jeremy Renner plays him brilliantly. I also figured his show would be something of a low key affair, especially when compared to the Marvel  shows that have gone before it. So I was delightfully surprised when the trailer arrived and I finally got a glimpse of the merriments to come. After all, what's more festive than a Christmas adventure in New York? Photo Credit: Entertainment Weekly On the face of it Clint is doing his best to lead a better life, making up for lost time with his family and undoub...

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings | Average Guy Movie Review

For ten years Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) - the son of The Mandarin (Tony Leung), keeper of the Ten Rings - has been running from his past, trying to escape the life his father intended for him. Unfortunately that past has now caught up with him, endangering the lives of those he cares about. Now he must return home, face his father and learn the secrets of his family. If there's one thing that Marvel is good at, it's taking lesser known comic book characters and turning them into major players. Clearly they haven't lost their touch because Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings  is everything fans love about the MCU and so much more. Whilst keeping things very much rooted in this world, Destin Daniel Cretton has carved out a new piece of the epic film franchise - one steeped in asian culture and mythology - to bring us Marvel's first Asian superhero.  It seems insane to think that just a few years ago Simu Liu tweeted Marvel about Shang-Chi, and now he's playing the ne...

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME | Moustache Teaser Reaction

The Spider-Man: No Way Home  trailer has finally arrived, and it sure does look good when it's not footage of a phone filming a phone, filmed on a phone! Granted, there's no real difference between this and the leaked version - bar some improved visual effects, and you can actually see what's going on - but it's still good to finally get a look at what is to come. If you haven't seen it, or you just want to watch it again, check out the trailer below... So after that shock ending to Spider-Man: Far From Home  it seems that Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is struggling with his new found fame - or should that be infamy? Not only does the entire world know he's Spider-Man, but he appears to be in the frame for murdering Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) too. That would certainly explain why he needs a certain lawyer to help him. But the Web-Head is also considering more drastic options, courtesy of his old friend (and world saving colleague) Dr Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch),...

Black Widow | Average Guy Movie Review

After the events of Captain America: Civil War , Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is on the run from everybody, and looking to simply disappear. But the arrival of a strange package leads her back to an old life, forcing her to not only consider her future but also to confront her past, and the 'family' she once knew. The word that springs to mind when watching Black Widow  is 'cathartic'. This movie has been a long time coming, desired by both fans and filmmakers alike. After having appeared as a co-star in several solo outings, as well as being part of the team in all of the Avengers movies, both Johansson and Romanoff are more than deserving of a movie to call their own. So the question is; was it worth the wait?  Marvel have taken an interesting approach with this one. Instead of making a straight up prequel/origin story - although it is technically a prequel - we are presented with a more modern story, but one that harkens back to certain pivotal moments in he...

Marvel Studios’ Eternals | Moustache Teaser Reaction

The first trailer for Marvel Studios' The Eternals  has landed, and while it doesn't give all that much away, it does promise something a little different to what has gone before it. If you haven't seen the trailer or just want to watch it again, you can check it out below. This trailer leaves me more curious than excited, which in a way feels the wrong way round. Normally I'm just excited to see where the latest Marvel adventure is taking us. It is nice, however, to see an upcoming instalment of the MCU on the horizon that I know next to nothing about.  There really isn't much here to work with. The trailer establishes that these long-living, superpowered beings exist. They have been living on Earth for quite a while - having arrived on a ship that looks like a giant, flying slab of granite - and have influenced but not interfered with humanity in order to see us develop. Oh, and they're not so hidden as to be unaware of what's going on in the world/galaxy....

Shang-Chi And The Legend of The Ten Rings | Moustache Trailer Reaction

So the first trailer for Shang-Chi And The Legend of The Ten Rings is here - appropriately dropped on Simu Liu's birthday - and as you'd expect with Marvel, it promises to be another exciting instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More importantly, it opens up an entirely new culture to this superhero universe, presenting audiences with the MCU's first Asian protagonist. You can check out the trailer below. In terms of plot it looks like Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) walked away from his life and his family over a feud with his father, Wenwu (Tony Chu-Wai Leung) A.K.A. The Mandarin. Now, ten years later, Shang-Chi finds himself being drawn back into that life he has tried to forget, as a series of killers begin hunting him down. But was he ever really out of it? Was his father simply watching from afar, waiting for the right moment to draw his son back into the fold? Firstly, it's worth noting that unlike in previous MCU entries, we're not talking about an imposter, th...

Moustache Lockdown Streaming Survival Guide Part 13 | WandaVision

Finally the roll out of Phase 4 of the MCU has begun, but not as originally planned. The first to arrive is one of Marvel's new streaming shows - and not the one they planned to debut first. The first two episodes of WandaVision are here, it's the first major Marvel property to be released since Spider-Man: Far From Home back in 2019, and the mysterious show is putting a strange new spin on the Marvel Universe. The MCU is back! Don't forget to check out the rest of our Moustache Lockdown Streaming Survival Guide by clicking here . After the events of Avengers: Endgame, it is unknown what has happened to Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen). Now we see her living with Vision (Paul Bettany) as a married couple in the suburbs. The only problem is their new life together seems to be a TV show, one resembling classic American sitcoms. And someone is watching. But will they be able to figure out what's going on before it's too late, and more importantly... will they want to...
