After a troubling few years Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth) is on a journey of discovery. Or should that be re-discovery? Oh well. After spending some time fighting with the Guardians of the Galaxy, a distress signal sends Thor and Korg (Taika Waititi) - as well as a couple of noisy new pals - off in search of a being known as the God Butcher (Christian Bale). It's a journey that will bring him back to New Asgard, and will re-acquaint him with an old friend... or two. Thor: Love & Thunder is a bigger, brighter and more colourful affair than what has gone before it. Something akin to a 1980's action/sci-fi adventure, with a soundtrack to match. Taika Waititi doubles down on all the craziness and heart that made Ragnarok  such a success, only this time he doesn't quite get the balance right. It's not that Love & Thunder  isn't funny. Quite the opposite, in fact. Korg's narration being a perfect example, including his habit of forgetting a certain scientist

Granite City used to be the home of two super-powered individuals; Samaritan and Nemesis. After an explosion at the city's power plant, they were feared dead. But 25 years later there are some who believe Samaritan survived, including 13-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon Walton). Sam thinks his neighbour, Joe Smith (Sylvester Stallone), is the city's lost superhero, so the boy makes it his mission to find out why his hero is living in hiding. Amazon's latest foray into a superhero world is not quite the explosive hit I'm sure they hoped it would be. Samaritan  looks a lot like the superhero movies of the late nineties and early noughties - including some very cheap looking super suits and bad CGI. It feels like it has been ripped directly from the pages of a graphic novel, rather than adapted for a movie. Some things don't translate well from page to screen, and this it seems, is one of them. When the moon's orbit begins decreasing, the world is thrown into chaos. Fluctuations in gravity and extreme tidal events bring destruction on a global scale. But when it's discovered that some sort of alien technology is responsible, NASA director Jocinda Fowler (Halle Berry) must turn to disgraced astronaut Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson), the only man who has seen this tech up close, and a crackpot scientist (John Bradley) with strange theories about the moon, in order to fix the problem. The master of disaster returns, once again, to the genre that put him on the Hollywood map. A CIA assassin codenamed 'Six' (Ryan Gosling) becomes the subject of a global manhunt when his latest target hands him an item containing information that's rather compromising for certain agency officials. In order to retrieve the item said officials offer Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) - a former operative and all around deranged lunatic - unlimited means to hunt Six down. The Russo brothers have delivered all-out action insanity with The Gray Man . Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas at their arse-kicking best. Chris Evans as the moustache twirling villain (you know he's evil because he wears shoes with no socks!). Jessica Henwick and Billy Bob Thornton in supporting roles and pretty much non-stop carnage across half the globe. Moreover, the movie is unapologetic in its delivery of action scene after action scene without explanation or the opportunity to catch breath. There was some exciting stuff coming out of this years San Diego Comic Con! This includes panels for the Game of Thrones  spin-off; House of The Dragon , and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power . And lets not forget the trailers for I Am Groot  and John Wick: Chapter 4 . The latter being particularly exciting for me, as our favourite assassin not only takes on another legion of killers in his feud with the High Table, but also must face up to the question of "where this ends". Obviously DC  and Marvel  to give us a glimpse of their upcoming slates, although DC 's wasn't quite on the same scale as Marvel 's. This might have something to do with the controversy surrounding some of their stars, but it certainly didn't stop them from wowing us with the two trailers they did show us.
