What's Up, Moustache? #6 | Ten Years!!!

I've been thinking about Grosse Pointe Blank  a lot lately. Specifically, the scene in which Jeremy Piven repeatedly screams "TEN YEARS!!!" at John Cusack. Now you may be wondering why. Or, maybe not. Maybe you figured it out before you clicked the link. The point is, I don’t see another goddamn movie blogger, so pipe down. Anyway... ten years ago today, The Movie Moustache  went live. Although it was Moustache Movie News  back then. It all started with a little post about the then upcoming Jurassic World  sequel - what would turn out to be Fallen Kingdom   - and whether they should stop. Needless to say, they did not listen, as we've had three  Jurassic  sequels since then. And ten years later, even though I have enjoyed some of those sequels, I'm still wondering how many more dino adventures they could or should get out of this prehistoric franchise. But that's not the only milestone we've passed in the last decade. My favourite movie,  Ba...

The Rip | Average Guy Movie Review

Acting on an anonymous tip, a Tactical Narcotics Team from the Miami Police Department carry out a raid on a house. There they discover roughly $20 million dollars hidden in a wall. Regulations require that the money be counted on site, before moving it to a secure location. But given that the house is in the middle of cartel territory, tensions begin to rise. And things go from bad to worse when it becomes clear that the intentions of certain team members may not be totally admirable. What do you do, as a cop, when your beloved colleague is murdered, and you're both in the frame for it, and unable to investigate yourself? You and your team go raid a potential stash house. That's what this particular band of veteran narcotics cops do, anyway. Joe Carnahan's latest cop drama is based (loosely) on the life of his friend Chris Casiano, a Miami cop. Casiano did apparently find $20 million stashed in a house during a raid, but that's about as close as the movie gets to reali...

Ballerina (2025) | Average Guy Movie Review

After her father is murdered by a mysterious group of assassins, Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) is accepted into the Ruska Roma crime syndicate. There she is trained as both an assassin and a bodyguard, to become a 'Kikimora'. But when she encounters a man bearing the same mark as those who killed her father, Eve is forced to go against her clan in order to unravel the secrets of her past. The world of John Wick  gets a little bigger with this introduction to another highly trained killer. Having already established her herself as an action star in No Time To Die , Ana de Armas looks to be unstoppable as Eve. Something could certainly be said of her focus, and sheer will. She is driven, but emotional. Her pain feels genuine, and de Armas has clearly tried to do her own thing with the character. It's also interesting to see this world from the perspective of someone who is up and coming, rather than those who have survived in it for many years. But did it really need to be anoth...

A Family Guy Christmas Ranking

Inspired by the arrival of  Family Guy 's take on the infamous  Hallmark  Christmas movie, I thought I'd do what everybody else has already done; rank all of the show's Christmas episodes. Back in the day I was quite an avid viewer of this crazy cartoon. Somewhere around that last  Star Wars  episode  ( It's a Trap! ), however,  something changed. That comedic edge was somehow lost. Maybe the show had simply peaked. Who knows? But from that point on, Family Guy  no longer seemed as clever, or funny.  That said, on the odd occasion the Griffins have been known to bring a little festive cheer to their mad world. So, in the spirit of the holiday, I decided to watch all the Christmas episodes to see which ones are the most festive.   It's December. Every day is dark and cold! What else was I going to do? ︌ 13 The Return of the King (of Queens) We begin with an episode that isn't particularly festive. In fact, this could easily have not ...

What's Up, Moustache? #5 | Christmas Movie Watchlists

Here we go again! The jolliest of holidays, the most festive of festivities, is back to haunt us. Yep, it's Christmas. Which means it's time to do all that stuff we love to do around the holidays. Putting up trees and decorations. Wrapping presents. Oh, and my personal favourite... enduring the same shitty Christmas music over and over. Although I am loving all the Mariah Carey memes, this year. But on a more serious note; there are radio stations dedicated to Christmas music, and some of them have been live since September! Who the hell is listening to Christmas music in September?! However, it's not all bad. There's usually copious amounts of delicious food to consume, and some excellent movies to be watched. Often times, you can combine the two. How many Christmases have been saved by a good movie and/or some tasty food? I don't know if it has saved Christmas 2025, but before writing this I watched Planes, Trains & Automobiles . Not exactly a Christmas film, ...
