VENOM: THE LAST DANCE | Moustache Trailer Reaction

Venom horse!!! In other words; the trailer for Venom: The Last Dance has landed. What are your thoughts on what is likely to be Tom Hardy's last outing as the symbiotic duo?

My first thought, based on this trailer, is The Last Dance looks fun. But I've been wrong before, because I thought the same after seeing the trailer for Let There Be Carnage. I love the first movie, it has some issues but for the most part it's a lot of fun, especially the odd couple relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom (Hardy & Hardy). Unfortunately the same cannot be said about Let There Be Carnage. Hardy continues to be brilliant in the lead roles, but the movie does not deliver the "carnage" it promises. So as much as this trailer looks good - Venom horse! - it gives me pause.

The Last Dance, which is written by Hardy and first time director Kelly Marcel (writer on the first two Venom movies and Cruella) looks to pick up where the last movie - as well as a few post credit scenes - left off. Our heroes are still on holiday, back from their cross-dimensional trip and in search of food for Venom. Which brings them to a local gang's HQ/dog fight venue, where delightful chaos quickly ensues. The pair look be a little more in sync than they were previously, although Eddie is still the unwilling parent in the relationship. Naturally, it's a lot of fun watching Venom tear the place apart, with some help from the dogs he's unleashing, and we finally get to see him actually bite off a few heads. My question is; how did they end up there? Does Venom simply like dogs, or did the crims look tasty?

At the same time Chiwetel Ejiofor's unnamed soldier arrives at the bar where our heroes were last seen, only it's the version of the bar in Sony's universe, to collect one of Venom's sheddings. Or should that be offspring? Cristo Fernández reprises his role as the bartender from the post credits scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and if it weren't for Ejiofor he would be getting a taste of symbiote life. Ejiofor is apparently part of a team responsible for hiding the existence of aliens from the public, who seem to have built up quite a collection of symbiotes, including Stephen Graham's 'Patrick Mulligan'. And the presence of Juno Temple's 'Doctor Payne' would suggest they aren't simply storing them. Is this why they're after Eddie and Venom? Are they just trying to lock them up, or do they want Venom for something specific?

Either way, the odd couple are going on the run. Along the way they'll get into a fun looking fight/chase with some soldiers in a river, and ride in an R.V. with a singing Rhys Ifans. Yep, things are going to get weird! However, the revelation that Venom's home "has found us" means there's not really anywhere they can hide. Cue Transformers-esque shot of several unidentified objects entering the atmosphere. Although the running part should be fairly easy given their unique method of avoiding plane ticket prices and airport security. I certainly never thought I'd see two aliens fighting on the outside of a jumbo jet in mid flight! Although with all that going on, I'm not sure how long the plane will stay in the air. The scorpion looking alien looking to kill Venom in said fight is equal parts cool and hideous. Could it be a new type of alien, or is it a symbiote bonded with a scorpion? Who knows?! But it might actually deliver some of the carnage that the last movie lacked.

Thankfully, what is clear - despite the odd audio issue that made some dialogue a little unclear - is that Hardy still has great chemistry with himself. The real selling point of these movies... after Mrs Chen, that is. It wouldn't be a Venom movie without Peggy Lu, and this time she's getting all glammed up, for what I hope to be a musical number with Venom. Like I said; "weird". Anyway, once again Hardy is playing both sides of the central duo, and that hilarious relationship appears to be at its usual level of hysterical dysfunction. They laugh, they bicker, they explore sarcasm together, they may even have a little 'heart to heart'. Yes, The Last Dance may actually get serious about - or at least mildly touch upon - the depth of their relationship, and the bond they have developed. Better late than never, I guess, given what the title may suggest. Could this be the end for one or both of them, or is it simply their last movie? We only have to wait until October to find out, but I really hope that Eddie and Venom go out with a bang!

Overall, this trailer delivers. Venom: The Last Dance looks to be a crazy last hurrah for the symbiotic duo. Lets face it, they had me at Venom horse! I just hope this (supposed) final outing delivers the carnage it promises.

Venom: The Last Dance is scheduled for release on 25th October 2024.

Road House | A Moustache Double-Bill

Firstly, I should probably point out that up until recently the high-kicking 1989 cult classic has eluded me - or maybe it was me eluding it. Who knows? Anyway, seeing that Doug Liman and Jake Gyllenhaal have taken it upon themselves to remake Road House  and put a 21st century spin on solving every problem by kicking, I figured; 'why not make it a double feature?' View the two movies for the first time one after the other and see how they measure up.  Naturally I took the chronological approach, starting with the original movie and then moving on to the remake. Watching this cult classic for the first time, I was struck by how much it feels like a feature length episode of The A-Team . Typical 80's good guy arrives in town, where he comes to blows with the rich guy/your typical A-Team  bad guy who thinks he owns the place. Seriously, stick that famous opening monologue on the beginning and have Patrick Swayze's 'Dalton' build some weird weapon from parts acquir...

A Million Ways To Die In The West | Average Guy Movie Review | Movierob's Genre Grandeur

For Movierob 's Genre Grandeur on Western Crossovers, I am looking at Seth MacFarlane's guide to surviving the old west for all those who aren't Clint Eastwood, A Million Ways To Die In The West. It follows Albert Stark (MacFarlane), a sheep herder on the frontier who seems to be the only person that sees the west for what it is; a dangerous, disease infested, unforgiving shit hole. "Hell, this was Miss America in 1880... ..."Holy Shit!"  After his girlfriend dumps him, Albert prepares to leave his hometown of Old Stump for San Francisco. But his plans are interrupted by the arrival of Anna (Charlize Theron), who shows him how to enjoy life. Unfortunately for Albert, Anna is married to Clinch Leatherwood (Liam Neeson), one of the most dangerous outlaws in the territory and he's none too happy about Albert spending time with his wife! The story for A Million Ways To Die In The West began as a joke between MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Welles...

Jason Bourne: Spoiler Review

I don't usually write spoiler filled reviews because I don't see the point. But considering my not so positive review of Jason Bourne, one of the most highly anticipated movies of Summer 2016, I thought it might be worth trying to explain why I reached the verdict I did. If you haven't seen this movie stop reading because there are spoilers ahead. Click here to see the spoiler free review. The movie begins with Bourne in Greece. He's laying low, making money by competing in underground fights and still struggling with his past. He lacks purpose which is making him miserable. Nicky Parsons on the other hand is busy hacking the CIA in order to expose their black ops programs. So far so good. But when Nicky finds something out about Jason's (or should I say David's) past, she heads to Greece to find him. Unfortunately her activities have drawn the attention of CIA Agent Heather Lee (Alicia Vikander), a cyber ops specialist who begins to track her. Using a ...
