So That Avengers 4 Trailer Leak...Do We Believe It?

Warning: Possible Spoilers

Esquire have recently reported on a post to the Marvel Studios subreddit. A user posted what is supposed to be a description of a leaked trailer for Avengers 4, which has now been deleted.

But the question is; is it real? Some consider it "too detailed to be fake", while others are calling it "bad fan fiction".

Here's what the post said:

  • The trailer starts off showing the damaged Infinity Gauntlet in a field on the farm planet. As the camera focuses in on the gauntlet, we hear Tony's voice: "We were destined to lose." Epic music score starts.
  • The Quinjet is shown landing in a Wakandan wasteland as we hear Rogers say: "We have come so far." Tony and Nebula step off the jet as the remaining Avengers approach. Steve has a look of relief and says: "Tony". Tony, seemingly defeated, shakes his head and gives a friendly smirk back to Cap.
  • Marvel Studios logo appears. We get a glimpse of the Battle of New York from 2012 Avengers. Loki is shown being shocked and baffled as he is on top of the Stark Tower. There is a flash of blue light as the camera pans back. (Cuts to black)
  • Next we see the Wakandan throne with M'Baku at the helm. He's surrounded by his new Kings Guard (a mix of the Hill Tribe and the Dora Milaje). Shuri and Banner are seen working on a new project in the lab. Black Widow, in full gear, is in Hawkeye's family home from Age of Ultron. Basically everything is thrown all over the place and broken. Nat is studying some type of map with multiple photos on it. A quick shot of Thanos is shown with a long sword, walking down an alleyway in New York City.
  • The next shot is a dark hooded figure with glowing eyes, aiming a bow and arrow before shooting towards the camera. (1-2 visuals of the Quantum Realm) Scott Lang (no suit) is shown running through a park dodging explosions. (Shot of Space) Thor and Valkyrie are aboard a Kree ship. Thor says: "If the stories are true, you're our universe's last hope. If such a thing even exists anymore."
  • The next shot is of an older, determined Tony Stark walking through the new SHIELD HQ (Avengers Facility in upstate New York). He's seen in full SHIELD attire and carrying an orange briefcase. Banner (wearing spandex) is seen running from something, looking terrified. The next shot is Ant-Man appearing out of a flash of light and landing in a desolate place. We see it from his point of view from inside his helmet. He looks left to right and to his left again and says: "What in the-". (Camera focuses on Vormir and its stars).
  • Next, a shot of Rocket and Nebula modifying some new weapons in the lab. Rocket says: "When can we try this bad boy out?" They both smile at each other and fist-bump. We get our first glimpse of Iron Man in his red and gold nanotech armour. Hulk falls from the sky and lands in front of him. Thanos, in full armour, smiles. Hulk smiles back.
  • The next shot is in Japan. War Machine, Nat and Steve (in their full Avengers gear) are surrounded by The Yakuza. Hawkeye (Ronin) walks through everybody from behind them and approaches the Avengers. There's an intense exchange of looks between Clint and Natasha. (Next shot is at the Sanctum) Wong is communicating with Dr. Strange's soul via portal. (Cuts to black)
  • Grey haired Tony Stark and Ant-Man are in a post-apocalyptic NYC. The screen flashes back and forth multiple times through multiple scenes. We see Captain Marvel floating with her fists on fire and her eyes lit up. Thanos in the Soul stone with young Gamora screaming at him, Loki and Thor fighting off Chitauri together. And Tony handing Steve a brand new shield in the Wakandan throne room. (Cuts back to Tony and Scott)
  • Tony opens the orange briefcase as Scott hands him an illuminated bracelet. Tony asks: "How?...Is this even possible?" (Iron Man and Ant-Man are shown travelling through the Quantum Realm). Tony and Scott are back in the Battle of New York from 2012. The final shot before the title reveal is an Infinity Stone disappearing from Thanos' damaged gauntlet. He abruptly gets up and puts on his armour. His face goes from extremely infuriated to a menacing smile.
  • Title reveal: Avengers: Annihilation
  • Stinger: The Hulk is training at the new SHIELD facility with Black Widow and Steve. Steve notices that Hulk has been training non-stop as of late, so he asks why. Hulk responds in Banner's normal voice with: "My rematch is coming real soon, I can feel it!"
It's certainly a very detailed description, and it reads like all MCU trailers that have come before. And a lot of it makes sense based on what we saw in Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The appearance of Hawkeye is definitely interesting, especially given his absence in Infinity War. It also makes sense that Black Widow would go looking for the whole Barton clan. I wonder how many fell victim to the Mad Titan's snap. Although I'm not sure why he would join the Yakuza. Yes it's a storyline from the comics, I just don't know how it fits in the MCU. Unless, after the events of Civil War, Hawkeye didn't get house arrest like Scott Lang. maybe he took a dangerous undercover assignment in exchange for a pardon.
We know several details are possible from set photos, like re-visiting the Battle of New York and Ant-Man working with an older Tony Stark. The end of Ant-Man and the Wasp would suggest that the Quantum Realm will make all this possible. That orange case that's mentioned could be held within the black bag we can see Tony carrying.
M'Baku would definitely be the one to lead Wakanda in T'Challa's absence, given their new found friendship and the fact that he was the only one to challenge the new King for the throne.
If Thor and Valkyrie are on a Kree ship there's only one person they can be there to see. Although we haven't seen her first appearance yet, it is widely believed that she is the only person who can challenge Thanos.

I do have a few issues. Firstly, if Tony and Nebula are going to show up back on Earth, surely it would be in the Milano and not a Quinjet. Although maybe Tony would head to Avengers HQ on his return to Earth, and after locating the remaining Avengers travel to Wakanda. But why would he take a Quinjet?
How would Ant-Man end up on Vormir? I'm assuming the flash indicates he's emerging from the Quantum Realm. But how would that help him get to Vormir? Does it offer portals to other worlds?
Now I am eager to see Hulk get a rematch with Thanos. But I don't know if I need to see him in a Rocky style training scene. And why is he talking in Banner's voice? Are Hulk and Banner gradually evolving into one person? I don't know if I quite buy this.

There's also no mention of the possible new villain Annihilus, but it wouldn't be out of character for Marvel to keep them under wraps. Even without them, the title suggested in this post - "Annihilation" - makes sense, after all, Thanos did just wipe out half the galaxy.

As much as a lot of this is believable - even feasible - the cynical part of me can't quite believe that it's real. Maybe the person behind it is on to something, and has put together some interesting theories, or maybe they're just guessing. Who knows? I guess only time will tell. The first trailer for Infinity War landed in November 2018. So if Marvel follow the same pattern, we haven't got to wait long to find out.

Road House | A Moustache Double-Bill

Firstly, I should probably point out that up until recently the high-kicking 1989 cult classic has eluded me - or maybe it was me eluding it. Who knows? Anyway, seeing that Doug Liman and Jake Gyllenhaal have taken it upon themselves to remake Road House  and put a 21st century spin on solving every problem by kicking, I figured; 'why not make it a double feature?' View the two movies for the first time one after the other and see how they measure up.  Naturally I took the chronological approach, starting with the original movie and then moving on to the remake. Watching this cult classic for the first time, I was struck by how much it feels like a feature length episode of The A-Team . Typical 80's good guy arrives in town, where he comes to blows with the rich guy/your typical A-Team  bad guy who thinks he owns the place. Seriously, stick that famous opening monologue on the beginning and have Patrick Swayze's 'Dalton' build some weird weapon from parts acquir...

Jason Bourne: Spoiler Review

I don't usually write spoiler filled reviews because I don't see the point. But considering my not so positive review of Jason Bourne, one of the most highly anticipated movies of Summer 2016, I thought it might be worth trying to explain why I reached the verdict I did. If you haven't seen this movie stop reading because there are spoilers ahead. Click here to see the spoiler free review. The movie begins with Bourne in Greece. He's laying low, making money by competing in underground fights and still struggling with his past. He lacks purpose which is making him miserable. Nicky Parsons on the other hand is busy hacking the CIA in order to expose their black ops programs. So far so good. But when Nicky finds something out about Jason's (or should I say David's) past, she heads to Greece to find him. Unfortunately her activities have drawn the attention of CIA Agent Heather Lee (Alicia Vikander), a cyber ops specialist who begins to track her. Using a ...

A Million Ways To Die In The West | Average Guy Movie Review | Movierob's Genre Grandeur

For Movierob 's Genre Grandeur on Western Crossovers, I am looking at Seth MacFarlane's guide to surviving the old west for all those who aren't Clint Eastwood, A Million Ways To Die In The West. It follows Albert Stark (MacFarlane), a sheep herder on the frontier who seems to be the only person that sees the west for what it is; a dangerous, disease infested, unforgiving shit hole. "Hell, this was Miss America in 1880... ..."Holy Shit!"  After his girlfriend dumps him, Albert prepares to leave his hometown of Old Stump for San Francisco. But his plans are interrupted by the arrival of Anna (Charlize Theron), who shows him how to enjoy life. Unfortunately for Albert, Anna is married to Clinch Leatherwood (Liam Neeson), one of the most dangerous outlaws in the territory and he's none too happy about Albert spending time with his wife! The story for A Million Ways To Die In The West began as a joke between MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Welles...
