Spider-Man: No Way Home | Moustache Trailer Reaction

We have another trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it's full of surprises. But not necessarily the surprises many fans were expecting. If you've not seen the trailer, or you just want to see it again, check it out below.

It seems like only five minutes ago that we were getting excited over the teaser trailer for Tom Holland's upcoming third solo outing as the MCU's Web-Head. Probably because it was. That teaser came with many revelations about Peter Parker's life - and that of those close to him - after Mysterio posthumously revealed the teenager's alter ego. No Way Home certainly looks to be Holland's biggest and most dangerous solo outing, as Peter Parker faces one hell of a challenge - six or seven of them, in fact.

Whereas the teaser revealed how all this came to be, this one focuses more on the consequences of that rather dangerous spell. Much like in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, it seems Pete's proximity to the cause of this meeting of universes has brought people connected to Spider-Man into this world. Except this time it's his enemies, rather than friends - so far, at least. Luckily for Pete, MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) are there to help. From the trailer it appears they could play a larger role in this third outing, with Doctor Strange telling them to “Scooby-Doo this crap!”.

We get another glimpse at Doctor Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), who despite showing signs of being a little helpful, isn't getting the respect he would like. But he's not the only one who shows up in this trailer. Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin is both seen and heard as he taunts Pete about wanting to have a life. And he doesn't seem to be the only Goblin who shows up. There's a single shot of a very different looking Goblin. It could be James Franco's or Dane DeHaan's, although it's worth noting that this mysterious Goblin's glider more closely resembles DeHaan's. The villain math also supports this theory, because in that scenario we would have variants of three villains from both Tobey Maguire's and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Verses. The others being Thomas Haden Church's 'Sandman' from the Maguire-Verse, and Lizard (Rhys Ifans) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) from the Garfield-Verse. In some cases however, the actors haven't been seen yet, only their villainous characters have, namely Dafoe (we have only heard his voice), Haden Church and Ifans.

Naturally, this sinister group of villains will bring chaos to this world, and that's without even considering the greater ramifications that their presence in our universe will bring. I love the fact that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is very much blaming Peter for everything that goes wrong. Good to see his ego survived both the snap, the blip, and now this. The question is; how will they fix the problem. It looks like there will be a massive showdown on Liberty Island. Lady Liberty herself appears to be undergoing some work, having been gifted what looks to be a shield. But I can't help wondering how much of this will be Parker vs. Strange. Not only does the trailer hint at a fight between the two of them on a train (this was also seen in the teaser trailer), but Strange also seems to consider killing Parker as a way of fixing what has been broken. Strange suggests it’s because these villains all died fighting Spider-Man, which is not entirely accurate, because at least two of them survived in their respective movies. I guess something could of happened later, or that some of them aren’t from the exact universes we’ve seen before. Of course this is all most likely a mis-direct, with the good doctor actually planning something entirely different, but equally unappealing to our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. There is however, a McGuffin. A box which was glimpsed in the shot of Strange knocking Pete out of his body. Well Pete attempts to steal said box in order to fix things without doing whatever Strange was alluding to... obviously it doesn't go so well.

I'm sure they'll work things out. Otherwise how does Pete get a cool new suit? One imbued with the powers of Strange. Well I guess Wong (Benedict Wong) might have something to do with it, or that weird box. Either way, in both trailers Spider-Man is seen to be utilising a multitude of different suits, including the Iron Spider suit (part of which seems to be assimilated by Doc Ock's tentacles during the freeway fight), and the black and red one from Far From Home. But it's the new black suit that's really interesting. It looks to be in some way armoured, or at least protective. There's certainly nothing to suggest it has been bonded with a symbiote. Given that the Web-Head is seen wearing it whilst hunting Electro, it's probably designed to protect him from bolts of electricity. There's that cool shot of him conjuring a spell while Electro begins to build a charge from power lines behind him. Speaking of, Electro is also sporting a new look. In fact, he looks entirely different from the Electro seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, so it's possible he's an entirely different Electro all together. In the trailer his abilities with electricity give him a look similar to that seen in the comics. While his clothing seems to take some inspiration from the protagonist of the Infamous video games.

And while we're on the subject of fashion; why is Doctor Strange still wearing the Eye of Agamoto? Is it a style choice? Could it hold some sentimental value? That doesn't sound like Strange. It's not like Christine (Rachel McAdams) gave it to him. Maybe this is a sign this isn't the Strange we think he is. Maybe it's not Strange at all! Well, it's definitely strange, just not Doctor Strange. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that a character in a Spider-Man movie wasn't who they claimed to be.

However, the thing that's most interesting about this new trailer is what we're not seeing. For one thing, there's no sign of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock or Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock/Venom. One of which (Spoiler Alert) we can be fairly certain will make an appearance. More importantly, there has long been speculation that with all of the multiversal hijinks in this movie that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may reprise their roles as Peter Parker - something everyone involved in the production (and others) strongly deny. A few years ago Marvel wouldn't have been able to resist revealing something like this in trailers, which could be a sign that a Spider-Men team up isn't happening. But in recent years, Feige and his team have got better at not revealing everything in the trailers. And lets face it, even the strongest denial from Marvel can't really be trusted, these days. There are definitely a couple of moments in the trailer where something doesn't look quite right.

One shot sees Holland's Spider-Man leaping in to face off with Sandman, Electro and the Lizard (see above). Now that's not weird in itself, it's actually quite a cool shot. No, what's weird is that Spidey seems to be leaping more towards Electro and Sandman, whereas the Lizard appears to be leaping towards absolutely nothing - in the Brazilian version of the trailer he even appears to take a punch from an invisible person whilst in mid-air, which is weird. Could the visual effects guys at Marvel be hiding something from us? It certainly wouldn't be the first time! There's something else too. One of the last shots in the trailer - reminiscent of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - sees MJ falling off a building. When Peter dives after her he looks to be wearing the Iron Spider suit, but when he reaches out to her his glove doesn't seem to match that suit. Could this be another new suit, or a redesign? Or is it an entirely different Spider-Man attempting to save her?

Personally, I'm glad we don't know if Maguire and Garfield will show up. If they do, we won't know for definite until we're sat in the cinema, watching No Way Home. Either way, this still promises to be an epic solo outing for Tom Holland's Wall-Crawler and his friends... which is exactly the way it should be.

The Suicide Squad | Average Guy Movie Review

A new batch of convicts - as well as a few originals - are under the thumb of Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), who's once again offering years off their prison sentences in return for completing a few jobs for Uncle Sam. This time she's sending them to the island nation of Corto Maltese. There they must infiltrate the capital and destroy a top secret research facility. Sounds easy enough. Task Force X is back, and with James Gunn at the helm things are madder than ever! The Guardians of the Galaxy  director has taken what David Ayer started and blown the roof off of it. But he has done so in a way that is respectful of what has gone before. Fans of the original (of which there are apparently few) will have no trouble going from  Suicide Squad  to The Suicide Squad . And yet, the new movie stands quite happily on it's own two feet. Rather than making them drastically different, the returning characters simply feel like they have grown a bit. Well, maybe not grown, but adapted, t

Operation Market Garden Anniversary 2016

The John Frost Bridge at Arnhem (from my visit in 2013) 72 years ago today, Allied troops set off on what could be one of the boldest missions of World War 2, Operation Market Garden. Developed by Field Marshall Montgomery, the plan was to advance into Nazi occupied Holland and develop a bridgehead over the River Rhine into Germany. There were two parts to the operation: Market (Airborne) Garden (Ground Forces) In what was the largest airborne operation of the war, paratroopers and glider troops had the job of securing bridges at Eindhoven (US 101st Airborne), Nijmegen (US 82nd Airborne) and Arnhem (British 1st Airborne). The ground forces, made up of the British XXX Corp had to advance up a single highway through Holland, linking up with the airborne forces as they went. In honour of the anniversary of Operation Market Garden we look back at some of the movies and TV Shows that tell the story of the Allies ill-fated attempt to end the war by Christmas 1944. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings | Average Guy Movie Review

For ten years Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) - the son of The Mandarin (Tony Leung), keeper of the Ten Rings - has been running from his past, trying to escape the life his father intended for him. Unfortunately that past has now caught up with him, endangering the lives of those he cares about. Now he must return home, face his father and learn the secrets of his family. If there's one thing that Marvel is good at, it's taking lesser known comic book characters and turning them into major players. Clearly they haven't lost their touch because Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings  is everything fans love about the MCU and so much more. Whilst keeping things very much rooted in this world, Destin Daniel Cretton has carved out a new piece of the epic film franchise - one steeped in asian culture and mythology - to bring us Marvel's first Asian superhero.  It seems insane to think that just a few years ago Simu Liu tweeted Marvel about Shang-Chi, and now he's playing the ne
